Dallas, Texas (April 9, 2014) - Writer, Director, and Producer Sharon Kon was the recipient of this year's Excellence in Service Award at the Christian Women in Media Association's (CWIMA) Annual Awards Gala in Dallas on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Kon was also named Regional Director of CWIMA's New York Metro chapter. Other honorees include Executive Producer and Actress, Roma Downey, Film Critic, Publisher of Movieguide®, and Chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission®, Dr. Ted Baehr, and Singer-Songwriter, Babbie Mason.
The gala was held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Dallas following its National Media Conference, where Kon was a panel speaker. The main event featured Dr. Baehr as the keynote speaker, delivering an inspiring message to media professionals and receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Downey was presented with the Excellence in Communication Award following her work on The Bible TV-miniseries and the recent blockbuster, Son of God. Mason performed her award-winning music and was another recipient of the Excellence in Communication Award.
Kon's latest production, The Father's Love, is a new faith-based film based in New York. The Father's Love is an epic love story featuring themes of heartbreak, hope, and forgiveness. It aims to inspire and encourage women in romantic relationships as well as relationships with their fathers. There is also a strong message of faith that exemplifies the heavenly Father's love and healing power. The movie is currently considering various distribution possibilities. A release date will be announced soon.
